This morning, at the age of 89, the Spanish writer Miguel Delibes died in his hometown of Valladolid after a ten-year battle with colon cancer. Spain mourns the loss of an icon.
As comedian Ángel Martín mentioned today via Twitter, “Acabo de abrir un libro y está en blanco. No hay letras. Han ido a despedirse a Delibes”. (“I just opened a book and it’s blank. There are no letters. They’ve gone to say goodbye to Delibes”.). Never better put.
